The Electric in the Southside district of Birmingham is the UK’s oldest working cinema and is now home to sofas, a bar and waiter service. We have two digital screens and show a mixture of the latest quality mainstream, independent, foreign and classic films.

We are closed to the public until around 5.30pm on Mondays, but are open from approximately late morning to approximately late evening every other day. Each week opening and closing times are slightly different, dependent on the running time of the films we are screening.

Please read below for directions and parking information.

For those customers coming by car, we now have a partnership with the New Street NCP car park located on St Jude’s Passage, opposite The Victoria pub (see P sign on the map above). Our customers can park there for just £5.00 for five hours.
Please note, this is a multi-storey car park - DO NOT park at the open air NCP car park which is very close by, as the offer is not valid for this car park.
All you have to do is mention that you’re parked there when you come to our box office to collect your cinema tickets, and we’ll give you a special ticket.
When you return to the car park, insert your initial car park ticket, which will bring up the normal tariff. Then insert our ticket, and the price will automatically drop to £5.00 as long as you have not exceeded the limit of five hours.
Please ask a member of staff if you have any queries or click here for the official NCP website for this car park.
